The perfect sandy beaches of the Algarve have made the region a hotbed for celebrity culture and with a plethora of hip nightclubs and day spas there’s no telling who you may bump into whilst on an Algarve villa holiday:
Legendary Crooner, Sir Cliff Richard not only owns a luxury villa in the Algarve, but the converted manor house also comes complete with its own working vineyard. The wine that Sir Cliff produces is called Vida Nova and is a delicious blend of Shiraz, Aragonez, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet grapes. If you plan to sample the wine whilst on your Algarve villa holiday then you’ll be pleased to note that it is available locally in a number of restaurants.
One restaurant that sells the wine is the traditional O Alambique, which is known for its fully stocked cellar and classic Portuguese cuisine. The restaurant was the venue of choice for Chris Evans’s post wedding party, an event which was attended by his ex, Billie Piper.
Chris may enjoy his Algarve holidays but unlike Boyzone singer, Ronan Keating, he doesn’t own his own luxury Algarve villa. Ronan shares his palatial pad with his model wife, Yvonne, and their three children, Jack, Marie and Ali. The children are said to particularly enjoy spending time in their Algarve villa as it enables them to visit the local theme parks of the area. It is claimed that the children particularly enjoy visiting the Zoomarine Dolphin Interaction Programme and watching the famous dolphin and sea lion shows. However, Ronan’s children are said to be just as content with spending hours building sandcastles at the beach where they are sometimes joined by Carol Smilie’s three children. Carol also owns an Algarve holiday villa in Portugal’s Golden Triangle and we’re sure that, with her expertise, the Changing Rooms presenter has managed to furnish her Algarve villa beautifully on the inside.
It seems that the England football team haven’t forgotten the summer they spent in Portugal during the Euro 2004 game. Many ex players return to the destination for their holidays including David Beckham. Although they don’t own a luxury Algarve villa, the Beckhams are said to be fans of the Quinta De Lago Resort which backs onto the natural salt marshes and lagoons of the impressive Rio Formosa National Park. Whilst holidaying in the Algarve, the Beckhams often take time out to visit, David’s ex team mate, Teddy Sheringham, who owns a palatial Algarve villa on this very estate.
We can imagine that, like Nelly Furtado, Victoria Beckham is a fan of the Algarve’s day spas. Nelly’s favourite is said to be the Grande Santa Eulalia, with its interactive thalassotherapy pool and 16 separate treatment rooms. When spending time at this resort Nelly likes to indulge in the chocolate and honey massage treatments, whilst Joaquim Cortes, who has also been spotted at this resort, prefers the Vichy shower treatment.
The Seven Spa, which serves cocktails, is a definite hit with the ladies, which may explain why ex Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been spotted in the resort. But whilst it’s clear that Jose does have an eye for the ladies, he may also simply enjoy the spa’s signature Waterfall Shower experience, which soaks guests with mint scented steam before they are pummelled with water jets.
Whether you’re after a celebrity spotting break or simply want to spend time relaxing on your summer holidays, an Algarve villa holiday offers something to suit everyone.
